I have a decently upgraded normal laser rifle (burning type reciver), that''s got as good a damage listing as my Musket. When you are getting rushed by a lot is another story. I admit mine is 4 crank (but you can get it 3 Crank without any Science perk), but in small numbers it can handle mirelurks well in about two or three hits to the torso.
